REVERSE TECH PACK - NIKE AIR MAX SC
The final project in month-long footwear development intensive required students to reverse-engineer a tech pack by sacrificing a shoe of their choice. I chose Nike’s iconic Air Max, a shoe inspired by architecture and likened to a trampoline.
Role: Student - Product Developer
Scope: Reverse tech pack, design CADs, Research materials
Dissecting a shoe
After rescuing a pair of Leopard print Air Max SC’s from the bins, I gathered my tools and got to cutting. Using the dismembered parts as a reference, I created a series of CADs, patterns, and tooling drawings to show how it’s made. An exhaustive BOM detailed all of the materials I ripped open. I also included information on marketing, budget, wear test plan, packaging, and a workback calendar.
